Digital Illumination Modelling & Workflow Integration Toolkit

See the show before the trucks roll in.

DIMWIT is the lighting previz built for touring LDs. Build the floor package, program the show and watch it run on a real stage, linked to your grandMA2 or grandMA3.

Made for the way a tour works

Previz that follows the desk

sACN or Art-Net from the console drives every fixture: movement, colour, gobos, prisms, zoom, strobe, beams in haze and light landing on the band.

Real fixture behaviour

Each type moves, zooms and dims at its own speed, and colours mix the way the emitters really do. What plays here is what the rig can do on the night.

grandMA2 and grandMA3

Patch, groups, presets, effects and cue lists go to the desk in one offline show build. Selection follows both ways.

Effects engine

An effects pool like the desk's, with phase, blocks, groups and wings. It warns you when the motors can't keep up.

The floor package

Plots, patch sheets, rigging loads, power, cable schedules, truck pack and the venue advance, all from the same show file.

Built for show day

Runs fully offline. Show mode locks editing, a backup computer takes over, and phones can watch the live view.

In the browser

  1. Open DIMWIT on any recent Chrome, Edge or Safari.
  2. Build the rig, the set and the looks. Everything stays on your computer.
  3. Once loaded it keeps working offline.

Open DIMWIT

On the show computer

  1. Install Node.js (LTS) once.
  2. Download and unzip DIMWIT.zip.
  3. Windows: double-click Start DIMWIT.bat. Mac: Start DIMWIT.command.
  4. Connect the desk over sACN or Art-Net, and the desk link for selection and the show build.
